Sun Hwa International Academy (SHIA) proudly celebrates another milestone as its student-athlete, David Tristan Reyes, delivered an outstanding performance at the 66th Palarong Pambansa 2026, a National Sports Competition on May 24-31, 2026 held at Agusan del Sur.
David Tristan Reyes represented the Sun Hwa International Academy (SHIA) in the swimming competition, under CALABARZON Region. Through his exceptional skill, determination, and consistent performance in the pool, Reyes emerged as one of the top swimmers of the competition.
David Tristan Reyes concluded his Palarong Pambansa campaign with an impressive medal haul of:
*3 Gold Medals
*2 Silver Medals
*1 Bronze Medal
Supporting his remarkable journey was his coach and the coach of the entire CALABARZON region, Coach Franklin B. Laurente, SHIA Teacher, whose guidance and unwavering encouragement played a vital role in preparing David for the country's premier school sports competition. Coach Laurente's dedication to athlete development helped David perform at his highest level against the nation's best young swimmers.
Following his outstanding performance at the said event, the young athlete was recognized by the City Government of Antipolo, led by Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III together with DepEd officials, on August 3, 2026.
After winning in the swimming competition, David and Coach Laurente brought immense pride to the city and his school. In recognition of this achievement, the City Government awarded a Certificate of Recognition to Sun Hwa International Academy, received by Chairman Leo Angelo T. Halog, President Jaime Vergara, and Principal Mariflor Gavaran, honoring the academy's commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics.
